The Romanian city of Odorheiu Secuiesc has been the scene of the first phase of the European Cup of men's table tennis. In it, three Spanish teams took part, in the case of Alicante TM and Enoli Borges Vall, who qualified for Stage 2, while Irún Leka Enea was eliminated after finishing in last position in their group.

Alicante TM, included in Group A, closed its participation with a victory and a loss. In their debut, they lost 1-3 against the Italian team ASD Marcozzi Cagliari. On the second day, they clearly won 0-3 against the Polish team KTS Gliwice, which allowed them to finish in second position in the group and secure their place in the next phase.
In Group B, Enoli Borges Vall completed an impeccable phase and took first place with two victories. In their debut, they beat the Turkish team Fenerbahçe Sports Club 0-3. In the second match, they achieved a hard-fought 2-3 victory against the Romanian team of CSS-SZAK Odorheiu Secuiesc, host of the phase. With this result he consolidated his leadership and the ticket for the next round as first in the group.

Irún Leka Enea, placed in Group C, failed to add victories. On the first day they were defeated 0-3 by the Croatian team STK Libertas Marinkolor Dubrovnik. Subsequently, they lost by the same result against the Polish team of Energa Manekin Torun and closed their participation with a third defeat, also 0-3, against the Austrian team of SPG Linz. The Basque team finished fourth in the group, with no chance of qualifying.

With these results, Alicante TM and Enoli Borges Vall advance to Stage 2 of the Europe Cup Men. This second phase will once again be held in a single venue and those who finish in the top two will have the option of facing the teams that fall from the round of 16 of the Champions League in a two-legged tie in the next round.
