Our Young Gun series gets to know the academy youngsters kicking off their careers at the Sobha Realty Training Centre. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Gaby Dimmock spoke to us recently about securing the under-21s league title and her plans for beyond the end of the season. <\/em><\/p>\n

Winning the league with the under-21s this season was an amazing feeling. There were moments in the season where the league felt quite far out of reach, but we just stuck together, put all our effort in and we managed to win it all in the end. <\/p>\n

Those ups and downs showed us that if you put your mind to it and do everything as a team, you can come back from anything. <\/p>\n

I think playing Manchester United away was the key game of the season. The home game was also important, but playing them at their ground was always going to be the harder task. We managed to stick it out and get the win, which ended up being the turning point of our campaign. <\/p>\n

This season has also been special for me as I’ve taken on the role of captain for the first time, so I’ve had a lot more responsibility within the team. I’d never really thought about becoming a captain before, but it was such an honour and I feel like I’ve grown into the role. <\/p>\n

I’ve been up to Sobha Realty Training Centre to train a few times, and everything is so perfect there. It really is an amazing environment to work in. Getting that insight into the life of a professional footballer is really interesting and helps you visualise your own journey. <\/p>\n

It’s hard to choose just one favourite moment across a title-winning season, but I think my one goal against Manchester City was a good moment for me! I nicked the ball in the final third and then just inside the 18-yard-box I struck it top left. I’m not really one of those central midfielders who score a lot, so it was great! <\/p>\n

I’ve made friends for life at Arsenal and that makes winning together all the more special. The tactical side of football interests me too, which has become a massive part of life in the under-21s. We do a lot of analysis, watching back our games to identify where we can improve. <\/p>\n

Now this season is coming to an end, I’m heading for a new adventure. I’m going over to America in September to play college football for Dartmouth College which is very exciting. They have an amazing set-up over there and it’s a great opportunity to keep playing football at a high level, while also keeping up my education. I’ve been thinking about this for the last couple of years and it’s crazy that it’s finally happening. <\/p>\n

I definitely want to come back to England after I finish college and try for a career in the WSL. I’m open-minded about playing professional football in another country – I haven’t really thought that far ahead yet! <\/p>\n

Being at Arsenal for more than ten years has literally been my entire childhood. I wouldn’t change this experience for the world because it’s been amazing. Arsenal has honestly made me into the person I am today. It’s taken me out of my comfort zone so much and I think I’ll be forever grateful for the experience. <\/p>\n

Over those ten years, there’s been a change in how I see football, but it will never change how much I enjoy it. I think the difference is where my enjoyment comes from now, as my football becomes more serious and career focused.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
