{"id":736,"date":"2026-03-11T10:55:48","date_gmt":"2026-03-11T10:55:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipsport.com.ng\/?p=736"},"modified":"2026-03-11T10:55:48","modified_gmt":"2026-03-11T10:55:48","slug":"havertz-on-returning-to-leverkusen-and-ucl-targets-quotes-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipsport.com.ng\/?p=736","title":{"rendered":"Havertz on returning to Leverkusen and UCL targets | Quotes | News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Kai Havertz is full of anticipation for tonight\u2019s UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg away to Bayer Leverkusen.<\/p>\n<p>Our German forward spent a decade at the club, representing their youth teams from 2010 to 2016 before making over 100 appearances for the senior side up until 2020.<\/p>\n<p>So it was a poignant moment for Kai on Tuesday, travelling back to BayArena for the pre-match press conference.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it&#8217;s amazing,\u201d he told the assembled press.\u00a0\u201cI think I already saw a lot of familiar faces\u00a0and obviously a lot of memories are coming up,\u00a0especially for me, playing for Arsenal, playing for this club. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cComing back to my childhood club is amazing\u00a0and I can&#8217;t wait for the game.\u201d<\/p>\n<article data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"4a2490e9-9151-4521-aba2-0df480694fde\" data-embed-button=\"article_embed\" data-entity-embed-display=\"view_mode:node.tiny\" data-langcode=\"en\" data-entity-embed-display-settings=\"()\" class=\"embedded-entity u-spacing-down--xxl\">\n<article data-article-id=\"125153\" about=\"\/news\/arteta-rebuilding-our-champions-league-pedigree\">\n<div class=\"article-card article-card--tiny card\" data-eq-pts=\"xsmall: 200, small: 550, medium: 640, large: 768\">\n<div class=\"card__content\">\n<p>\n         <span class=\"h6 article-card__subhead\">Read more<\/span>                             <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"article-card__title\" title=\"Arteta on rebuilding our Champions League pedigree\"><span class=\"article-card__title-words\">  Arteta on rebuilding our Champions League pedigree <\/span><br \/>\n          <\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/article>\n<p>There\u2019s still a long way to go of course, but Kai is no stranger to lifting the Champions League trophy, having found out what it took to achieve such success with Chelsea in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think Chelsea had lots of experienced players,\u00a0the same as we have now,\u201d he reflected. \u201cI think we had games where we needed a bit of luck as well,\u00a0but at the end of the day I think we just stood together as a group\u00a0and we started to go on the run, win games. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don&#8217;t know, I don&#8217;t remember a lot about the games before the final,\u00a0but I think they were always tough matches, always matches that were on the edge,\u00a0and then we had sometimes moments where we could lose the match,\u00a0but also could win them, and we decided to win them always. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor me obviously it was a great experience to be in the final,\u00a0to win that final and to score. So they are top memories and I just hope I can do it here as well\u00a0with Arsenal now this season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think at the moment we are at the stage where we basically look at it game by game,\u00a0and for us honestly the most important game is tomorrow,\u00a0and I know myself how tough Leverkusen are to beat, especially here at their home. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think they&#8217;re a very good team, a top manager,\u00a0so all we think about is tomorrow, to win that game and then go home\u00a0and go for the next one on the weekend, Premier League again,\u00a0and then face them in the second leg next week.\u00a0So I think that&#8217;s all we&#8217;re thinking about now.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Copyright 2026 The Arsenal Football Club Limited.
