{"id":832,"date":"2026-03-13T12:11:35","date_gmt":"2026-03-13T12:11:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ipsport.com.ng\/?p=832"},"modified":"2026-03-13T12:11:35","modified_gmt":"2026-03-13T12:11:35","slug":"gunners-trio-through-to-asian-cup-semi-final-international-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipsport.com.ng\/?p=832","title":{"rendered":"Gunners trio through to Asian Cup semi-final | International | News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Australia reached the semi-finals of the AFC Women\u2019s Asian Cup with a 2-1 victory over Korea DPR on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The result also means Matildas have qualified for the 2027 FIFA Women\u2019s World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>Caitlin Foord started the match and played 90 minutes, while Kyra Cooney-Cross came on in the 88th.<\/p>\n<p>Steph Catley missed out on this game having been substituted with concussion in the previous match.<\/p>\n<p>Alanna Kennedy opened the scoring in the ninth minute at HBF Park before Sam Kerr made it 2-0 early in the second half. Chae Un-Yong pulled one back for the away side but Australia held onto the lead to setup a semi-final clash on either Tuesday, March 17 or Wednesday, March 18.<\/p>\n<p>The other sides left in the competition are China, Chinese Taipei, South Korea, Uzbekistan, Japan and Philippines with the quarter-finals between those teams taking place across the rest of the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The final takes place on Saturday, March 21.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Copyright 2026 The Arsenal Football Club Limited.
