He Guaguas Volleyball Club He has proclaimed this Sunday champion of the Spanish Super Cup After imposing itself 3-2, in a close encounter, to the Herce Río Duero Soria Group.
Grancanarios players gave in the first and fourth manga of the clash but knew how to recover and leave at home the first national title of the season and its third Super Cup; the first obtained in its previous stage, in 1996, and the second in 2021.
The triumph adds to the international title harvested by the team last weekend, the Iberian Cup.
The meeting started this Sunday at the Insular Sports Center of Gran Canaria with an advantage of the bus over its Sorian rivals (5-2) that remained as the set progressed (11-6). The Sorianos cut distances and managed to get ahead for the first time from the beginning of the crash (21-22) and take the first set by a tight 23-25 (0-1).
The marker advanced at the same time at the start of the second manga (6-6). However, the guaguas began to anticipate on the scoreboard until he folds his rivals (18-9), an advantage that could be very difficult to recover.
The visiting players quickly chained four points that forced the grancanaria staff, Sergio Miguel Camarero, to request dead time (18-14). The hosts kept their rent and took the set 25-20, drawing the game (1-1).
The Grancanario team was ahead since the beginning of the third set of this equal fight for the first national title of the season (11-7). The manga continued with the advantage of the premises (18-13) and, although the Sorians tried to prevent it, El Guaguas added their second set by 25-19 (2-1).
Soria surprised with a partial 3-0 at the start of the fourth manga but the yellow players responded, recovered the difference harvested by the rival (4-4) and advanced in the box 8-5. The set continued advancing with equality (14-14) but, in the end, those of Soria, 25-22, forcing the tie break (2-2).
The Guaguas opened the fifth and last set (9-3) with six points, moving away enough from the score of the Sorianos and proclaiming himself winner of the 2023 Spanish Super Cup (3-2).
