The Spanish American Football Federation (FEFA) and the National Football League (NFL) have recently met in Barcelona to analyze the current situation of American football in Spain and establish the bases for future collaboration between both entities.
During the meeting, José Luis Soler, president of FEFA, and Rafael de los Santos, general director of the NFL in Spain, addressed various lines of action with the common objective of promoting sustained growth of American football in the country. Both organizations agreed on the need to develop coordinated actions in the medium and long term that allow strengthening the structure of national American football and raising its competitive level.
One of the main axes of the meeting was the promotion of flag football —a modality that will be Olympic in the Los Angeles 2028 Games—, especially among young people, with NFL Flag as a key program for recruiting new practitioners and training athletes from an early age. This commitment is part of a vision of the future aimed at improving the general level of Spanish American football and guaranteeing its projection and consolidation.

Likewise, different training initiatives were proposed aimed at referees, players and coaches, with the aim of strengthening their skills, standardizing criteria and raising the technical and organizational quality of the sport at all levels, both in the flag and tackle modes.
This first meeting marks the beginning of a collaborative relationship between the Spanish American Football Federation and the NFL, laying the foundations for the development of future joint initiatives aimed at generating long-term value and promoting the comprehensive growth of American football in Spain.
