The Hall of Fame began to be built in 1962 and was inaugurated in September of the following year with the aim of exalting the legends.
The Professional American Football Hall of Fame revealed Sharpe Sterling's bronze busts on Saturday, Antonio Gates, Jared Allen and Eric Allen, new members of the immortal enclosure in its 2025 generation.
The Hall of Fame began to be built in 1962 and opened in September of the following year with the objective of exalting the legends of this sport.
The 382 members of the enclosure are honored with a golden jacket and a bronze bust that remains in the enclosure to be admired by fans next to other objects, such as shirts, balls, helmets, among other attachments that used these legends.
At this Saturday's ceremony Sterling Sharpe joined his brother Shanon, a member since 2011, to form the first couple of brothers who are in the Hall of Fame.
“My brother spoke in 2011, today you have to come here, next to me, as the first brothers of the Hall of Fame,” he said.
Once at the podium next to Shanon, he joked. “Now you are the second best American football player in the family,” Sterling released with laughter and then take off his golden jacket and offer her to his brother as a sign of tribute.
“It would be a pleasure for me to be the only player in the Hall of Fame with two golden jackets,” he said among applause.
Sterlin, considered one of the best receivers in the history of the NFL, played his entire career with Green Bay Packers, with which he was three times All-Pro and five times Pro Bowl.
In his short seven -year race, due to a neck injury, he had 595 receptions for 8,134 yards and 65 annotations. He was the first NFL player to register two seasons with more than 100 receptions (108 in 1992 and 112 in 1993).
Another emotional moment happened in Jared Allen's speech, who in his 12 -year career for the Kansas City Chiefs, the Minnesota Vikings, Packers and Carolina Panthers, achieved 136 captures, 648 Tackleadas, 32 forced loose balls, 19 recovered, 57 defendant passes, six interceptions and two defensive annotations.
“This jacket is a direct reflection of all those who have contributed to my life and my career. It may be the one who takes this jacket, but I hope that every time they see it, they see themselves,” Jared said between tears.
The defensive expel, five times Pro Bowl and four occasions All-Pro has the records of provoking more self -novations in his career, with four, and more self -novations in a campaign, with two.
In his turn, Eric Allen, ex -foothills of Philadelphia Eagles, New Orleans Saints and Raiders, received an ovation for his 14 campaigns in the NFL in which he added 54 interceptions, eight of which he returned for annotation. It was selected six times Pro Bowl and designated four occasions.
Antonio Gates closed the event, man of only one team; Chargers, whom he defended during 16 seasons in which he forged the 11,841 yards by reception.
Gates also holds a pair of NFL records. The one with more annotations for a closed wing, with 116, and the one with more receptions in that position, which he shares with Tony González, with 955, each.
In the ceremony, Marv Levy, a former coach who took Buffalo Bills to four Super Bowls, was also honored, although he failed to defeat in any.
Levy, a member of the Hall of Fame since 2001, was honest because this Sunday will turn 100 years old.
