Jimmy Johnson has been an analyst for Fox Sports for the last 31 years. On Monday, he announced that he will be retiring at the age of 81. Johnson was the Dallas Cowboys head coach from 1989 to 1993, bringing them to two back-to-back Super Bowl championships in 1992 and 1993.
He joined Fox Sports in 1999 and became a centerpiece of the network from that point on. After more than three decades of Johnson’s presence at Fox, the outpouring of love from fans and colleagues has been strong.
Strahan’s emotional message to Johnson
With Fox Sports, Johnson worked alongside Michael Strahan, Terry Bradshaw, Curt Menefee, and Howie Long.
After Johnson announced his retirement, Strahan sent a heartfelt message to his longtime colleague.
“Congratulations on your retirement @JimmyJohnson ! It has been 17 seasons of fun and laughs sitting next to you,” Strahan wrote. “You’re truly one of a kind and thanks for being you and gifting me with one of the best friendships anyone could ever ask for.”
