This is Steve Spagnuolo’s impressive salary as a defensive coordinator for the Chiefs

Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo is considered one of the NFL’s top defensive mindsand with plenty of good reason. His aggressive style and ability to come up with unpredictable blitzes have allowed the Chiefs to close out games, as was demonstrated during the AFC Championship game against the Buffalo Bills, when his defense sealed a Super Bowl berth by pressuring quarterback Josh Allen on a 4th down play.

His adaptability, coaching skills, and and his defenses’ continued success in high-pressure situations are all key factors in why the Chiefs are currently contending for their third straight Super Bowl victory when they face the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday.

Steve Spagnuolo’s salary and net worth

With a track record that impressive, it’s no surprise that Spagnuolo’s salary with the Chiefs is also pretty impressive. Currently, he is reported to be earning a salary of $3.5 million. Spagnuolo has been the Chiefs’ defensive coordinator since 2019, and his contract was coming to an end after last season. So almost exactly one year ago, on February 14, 2024, after the Chiefs won their second straight Super Bowl, Spagnuolo signed a contract extension that will earn him around $5 million a year. Although the length of the extension was not disclosed, the team said they expect him to stick around for several more years.

Spagnuolo’s contract includes incentives based on how well his defense performs too. If they do well in the rankings, get more playoff wins, or make it to the Super Bowl, he receives bonuses. So, he should be doing pretty well for himself this season.

After years of coaching in the NFL (his career began with the New York Giants back in 2007), Spagnuolo has built up his net worth to a number even more impressive than his salary. As of 2024, Spagnuolo’s net worth is estimated to be over $9 million. That’s thanks to his years of NFL coaching as well as endorsements from sports gear and fitness brands.
