The Green Bay Packers have made another major move this offseason, tying down offensive lineman Zach Tom on a new four-year contract extension.
The news was announced by NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero on Monday. Tom has agreed to an $88 million contract extensionwhich could rise as high as $92 million if all conditions are met.
Most strikingly, the new deal includes a $30.2 million signing bonusbelieved to be the biggest signing bonus ever offered to an offensive lineman.
Tom joined the Packers as a four round draft pick in 2022 but he has quickly become a key part of the team’s offensive line. Last summer he tore a pectoral muscle, forcing him to miss part of the Packers’ offseason training schedule. Nevertheless he returned to star for Green Bay, starting all 17 games in the 2024 season. That was the second consecutive season in which Tom had started all 17 regular season games.
The 26-year-old was heading into the final year of his rookie contract before the big-money extension was agreed. Already this offseason, the Packers had strengthened with moves for WR Mecole Hardman, LB Isaiah McDuffie, CB Nate Hobbs, G Aaron Banks and K Brandon McManus.
The 2024 NFL season was a strange one for Green Bay, managing an 11-6 regular season record but finishing third in the NFC North. They were beaten by the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
