Wednesday night was an emotional one for Beth Mead, who made her final appearance in red and white at Emirates Stadium.
Our club legend went off to a standing ovation in the second half, calling time on nine and a half incredible years in front of our home supporters.
Speaking to us following the 1-0 win over Everton, Beth said: “I’m glad we won. We left it pretty late, so I’m happy we got the three points. It’s still important.
“I’m always going to care about this team, so I want to leave them in the best place that I possibly can. Obviously, super emotional. I’m very honoured to walk off the pitch and get the reception that I did. The fans have been amazing.
“I tried to keep it together the best that I could, but I’ve been here a long time. I care about the club. I care about the people. I feel very honoured to have represented this club for so long and this badge. Yeah, I’m going to miss it.”

Report: Arsenal Women 1-0 Everton
Beth was unlucky not to score on her final home appearance, twice striking the woodwork.
“I know,” she responded. “I was calling myself a postwoman! I hit the post a few times, but it wasn’t meant to be tonight.”
The win saw us rise to second in the Barclays Women’s Super League, going above Chelsea, so there’s still all to play for in our final match at Anfield this weekend against Liverpool.
“Three points is the aim for Anfield,” Beth said. “It’s a very nice stadium to play in. Hopefully, we can play some good football and finish the season on a high.”
