Hydramar Gran Canaria will face its next elimination clash in the CEV Cupthe second continental volleyball tournament in importance, against LKS Lodz Polish with nothing to lose and trying to impose its game to counteract the quality of a “very, very complicated” rival.
Fran Carballo, coach of the Canarian squad, who opens this season in the competition after falling eliminated at the first change in the Champions League, stood out on Tuesday before the media that the Polish League “is much superior to the Spanish” and that its rival is the second right now in Poland so it will be “very, very complicated” to win the clash, although it has asked “to leave without pressure” because they have nothing to lose.
“The keys to win will be a good serve and receive. It is a team that gets very well, so if we can control that service and we get well to them, we can be matched,” said Carballo.
The Hidrara Gran Canaria technician has opined that the workforce is much better in recent weeks, after a dubitative start in competitions -who eliminated in the semifinals of the Iberian Cup and defeated in the Spanish Super Cup, and without finishing being in the Iberdrola League -and expects the results to accompany from now on the good work of the training.
In the last game of the domestic competition, with a rapidly victory in the derby against the CV Sayre CC La Ballena (3-0), Carballo could see, he said, “a little to the team last year, doing very well the Side Out, playing a lot in block and defense”, and expects those sensations to continue in the next duels.
Starting with the clash against the Polish Lodz, an opponent of which the players Helia González and Lucrecia Castellano have highlighted the “power” of the Poland League and the rival itself.
González has advocated “giving each one, being aggressive, being brave” because he has defended that against teams of this class “if you do not risk and being brave, you have absolutely nothing to do.”
“We have had a little trumpet a little beginning, we are still playing gusts, we have many good moments, but also very bad, and we try to find a point where the team plays at their level, I think we are every time a little closer, and I think that Thursday will be an opportunity, especially to let go,” said the libero of the Hidramar Gran Canaria.
Both she and her partner have highlighted the important thing to play this first leg at home, before the fans, because she is “one more player” that supports them and drives them.
“For us it is a plus to start at home, it is joy, atmosphere, and it will help us to make a little more in the European competition,” said Lucrecia Castellano, who added that they will have to adapt to the level of the Polish if they want to get something positive out of the meeting.
