When the Dallas Cowboys brought on George Pickensit was expected that he’d be the WR2 alongside CeeDee Lamb, who’s been Dallas’ unquestionable No. 1 receiver for years now.
But once Pickens arrived on the scene, there were no questions, as Lamb made it clear – “We both ones”. And it seems they’re taking that seriously.
Pickens and Lamb share in unified pushups drill
During OTAs on Thursday, quarterback Dak Prescott threw a deep pass towards Lambbut he couldn’t hang on and dropped the pass. He apparently decided to punish himself by dropping down for pushups.
Pickens then rushed over and joined him in doing pushups on the ground as well.
Cowboys OTA observations from Thursday …
** CeeDee Lamb was unable to come up with a deep Dak Prescott pass and later dropped to do some pushups. George Pickens did the pushups right alongside Lamb. First time I saw that.

So it seems the two are truly becoming unified, which is great to see.
Lamb is entering his sixth year in the league and is a four-time Pro Bowler and had the best receiving season in Cowboys’ history in 2023 with 135 receptions for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Pickens has been in the league three years and has always been in the WR2 role, producing just 12 touchdowns in his whole career so far. But with Lamb, they’re promising to share the role equally as they see that Pickens has the potential to be more than just a No. 2 complement.
“It ain’t no A/B, none of that,” Lamb said after the trade. “You look over there, you see 1. You look over here, you see another 1. So do what you got to do with that.”
Cowboys’ new head coach Brian Schottenheimer is working on creating a new culture in Dallas’ locker room and he’s said that Pickens fits right in. So far, all we’re hearing about Pickens has been positive. Hopefully when the season starts, that shows through.
