Prescott confident for 2025 training camp
Prescott’s 2024 season came to an early end due to a hamstring injurybut the Cowboys signal-caller is confident he’ll be ready to go from Day 1 of camp as the team gears up for the new NFL campaign.
Speaking at his annual youth football camp in Southlake, Texas, Prescott told The Athletic he’s just waiting for the final sign-off from team doctors before returning to full-speed work.
“Yeah, I’ll be ready for training camp. I’m healthy,” Prescott said. “I think I’ll get officially cleared soon by the doctors, but I feel good.”
What injury did Prescott have? How long has he been out?
Prescott suffered a hamstring avulsion—where the muscle tears away from the bone—after the Cowboys’ Week 9 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Before the injury, he had thrown for 1,978 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions, completing 64.7% of his passes across eight games.
The Cowboys open training camp on July 22 in Oxnard, California, with practices running through August 13. On August 5they’ll hold a joint practice with the Los Angeles Ramsjust days before their preseason opener.
Prescott “super excited” by Pickens and Lamb
With a healthy return and new weapons at his disposal2025 could shape up to be a career-best season for Prescott. The Cowboys added former Steelers wide receiver George Pickens this offseason, pairing him with All-Pro CeeDee Lamb to form one of the NFL’s most explosive receiver duos.
Prescott told The Athletic he’s fired up to throw to both players—not just for their talent, but for the chemistry they’re already building.
“They’re two guys who genuinely want to see each other succeed. That’s the best part,” Prescott said. “Watching them interact, hang out, talk ball—they’re pushing each other. As the guy throwing them the ball, that’s super exciting.”
