The Kansas City Chiefs are heading back to the Super Bowl for the fifth time in six years, with the Philadelphia Eagles standing in the way of a first ever three-peat in the modern era.
One of the subplots (although some would argue the main story itself) of the Chiefs’ run to, and victory in, last year’s championship game was tight end Travis Kelce’s relationship with Taylor Swiftwhich had only just started to blossom at the start of the 2023 NFL season.
As well as the on-field action, whether or not Swift would be attending games at Arrowhead Stadium, or elsewhere in across the United States, became big news, and the pop superstar took on the role as Kansas City’s most high-profile cheerleader.
Swift has become one of the most famous faces on the planet since making her musical breakthrough as a teenager in 2006. The 35-year-old is the most-awarded artist at the American Music Awards, the Billboard Music Awards and the MTV Video Music Awards and the world’s richest female musicianbecoming the first billionaire primarily from music. Her recently-finished Eras Tour is the highest-grossing tour of all time.
How Taylor Swift caught Xavier Worthy by surprise
But despite her incredible fame, she still has the ability to surprise, as Kelce’s Chiefs teammate Xavier Worthy discovered.
Speaking to ABC30 following the AFC Championship victory over the Buffalo Bills, the rookie was asked about his interactions with the singer-songwriter.
“I’ve just met her. I was like, dang, she’s tall! She’s taller than me!” Worth laughed. “We were on the field, and she walked right past me. It was cool”.
The stats don’t quite back up that claim, with Worthy listed as being 5’11”, while Swift is believed to be 5’10”. Her black boots, however, may well have given her an extra boost.
Worthy, who was selected as the 28th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, has started 13 games for the Chiefs in his debut season in the league, which could end in fairytale fashion with his maiden Super Bowl.
