This deal was the biggest-ever in the history of the NFLand the third largest in the world of sports. Mahomes only trailed behind top earner Lionel Messiwhom soccer club F.C. Barcelona once signed to a 4-year, $674 million agreement, and Cristiano Ronaldowhom the Al-Nassr soccer team locked in for 2.5 years for $536 million. However, all the aforementioned names were blown out of the water when Shohei Ohtani signed a $700,000,000 deal with MLB side Los Angeles Dodgers.
Salary plus endorsements
Anyway, back to Mahomes. The QB rakes in some $45 million per year as Chiefs quarterback. However, this is not his only source of income as he has also landed substantial endorsement dealsincluding those he inked with Subway and State Farm.

His extension is a far cry from the deal he first signed with the team when they chose him as the 10th pick overall in the 2017 draft. That one was a four-year, $16 million agreement which included a $10 million signing bonus.
Nine more years
With Mahomes’ long-term contract- particularly lengthy considering that the average length of an NFL football player’s career is 3.3 years– Kansas City fans need not worry that Mahomes is leaving anytime soon. His contract runs out in 2032after which he becomes a free agent.
