Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce appeared on an episode of “Bussin’ With The Boys” on Tuesday.
Now 35 and entering the final year of his NFL contract, Kelce remains a dominant force on the field with three Super Bowl rings and multiple league records. But it’s his off-field life, including his chart-topping podcast “New Heights”, various TV appearances, and headline-grabbing relationship with Taylor Swiftthat has made him one of the most recognizable figures in sports. Kelce’s retirement plans
When asked about what life looks like after football, Kelce expressed that he’s still driven, but there’s an awareness that his NFL career isn’t infinite. He mentioned he’s aiming to play long enough to “leave on my terms,” highlighting his desire to decide his exit actively – not be forced out by injury or diminished role.

When asked directly if this would be his last year to play in the NFL, Kelce responded, “I mean, it’s the last one on the contract”reiterating that he’s just focused on this year right now.
He has said he has “an idea of the timeline” for retirement in his head, though he didn’t share specific years on the podcast, adding that it’s about finding the right balance between performance and personal life.
“I don’t want to leave anything out there,” Kelce said. “I want to give it my all and make sure that I do this, you know, for the childhood dream in me…the kid in me that’s like, man, I want to make this sh** the best thing ever.”
Either way, Kelce plans to stay with the Chiefs for the rest of his career as he considers the team and staff his family and the city his home.
Life after the NFL
As for his plans after his NFL career ends, Kelce mentioned that he’d like to “see what calling a game feels like”.
“I‘ve always, I feel like impersonated, you know, guys that call the games and stuff like that growing up,” said Kelce. “And, I don’t know, I thought it would always be fun.”
Other than that, Kelce plans to continue the “New Heights” podcast with brother Jason Kelce and will continue acting here and there after making his acting debut in Adam Sandler’s “Happy Gilmore 2″.
Kelce’s relationship with Taylor Swift
Kelce said that he and Swift have been criticized for wanting attention, but he noted that they’re just doing the normal things anyone would do while datinglike going to dinner and hockey games. They were spotted together during Game 4 of the Stanley Cup finals.
“We’re just enjoying life and having fun,” Kelce said.
He did mention that the one unexpected part of dating Swift was just how intense the paparazzi would actually be.
Kelce joked about having to actually use the restroom now instead of just “taking a piss” where ever he wants. “I just don’t want my meat on Page Six,” he laughed.
He spoke about how often Swift was able to get to Chiefs games last season despite her busy career, but that this will be the first season since they started dating that she’s not on tour. He confirmed that we can expect to see even more of Swift again in the 2025 season.
