Earlier in the offseason, the Dallas Cowboys traded with the Pittsbiugh Steelers to acquire wide receiver George Pickens. Initial reactions have been positive, as he’ll be paired alongside CeeDee Lamb to form one of the most dynamic receiving duos in the league.
However, a recent survey showed that fans aren’t entirely sold on Pickens in Dallas.
George Pickens has something to prove – and fans know it
While there is some concern about Pickens’ off-the-field behavior and attitude, fans seem to have been able to look past that in favor of his talent. Plus, he’s shown some early signs of maturity and growth since he’s come to Dallas.
However, fan confidence in Pickens’ long-term future in Dallas is lukewarm. In an SB Nation poll, only 48% of Cowboys fans believe he’ll remain with the team beyond the 2025 season.
Pickens is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and with Dallas already financially committed to Lamb, Dak Prescott, and likely Micah Parsons, it’s unclear whether there’s room to extend Pickens.
Despite a breakout season in 2023 (1,140 yards and five touchdowns), his production dipped last year (900 yards and three touchdowns), raising concerns about his consistency. Still, his big-play ability remains enticing as he aims to prove his value in a critical contract year.
