Did Shedeur Sanders really drop $500K before his first snap?

From his record-setting final season with the Colorado Buffaloes, to the criticism of his attitude, to his Hall of Fame father, to his NFL Draft slide to the fifth round, quarterback Shedeur Sanders can’t seem to stay out of the headlines.

And since he’s joined the Browns’ crowded quarterback room, things haven‘t lightened up. Just recently, there was a rumor going around that Sanders spent $500,000 on a brand new, custom Rolls Royce. Sanders took to social media to speak on that.

Shedeur Sanders shuts down insane spending rumors

Sanders was expected to be selected in the first round of the NFL Draft, but ended up sliding to the fifth, 144th overall. So his salary isn’t nearly that of a first-rounder. Now that he’s finally put pen to paper, he’s earning just over a million per year on a $4.6M, four-year deal.

So to spend 500K on a Rolls Royce would mean he already spent half of his annual salary before even playing a snap with the Browns. But Sanders took to X to make it clear that those rumors are unfounded.

“Another lie…. I’m focused on my team not a car purchase !Sanders wrote on Monday.

Sanders is the son of Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, who was also his coach throughout his college career. He had a standout season in Colorado last year, winning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year. He’s now in competition with veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel for the starting role in Cleveland.

As he’s been criticized in the past for showing off his flashy diamond chains and watches, Sanders is now trying to prove that he belongs in the NFL and is focused on becoming an even better player as well as a good teammate.

“I’ve mainly just been focusing on the teameverybody that’s currently around me, the coaches on the team,” Sanders said in a recent interview with Sportscasting. “I haven’t really been on my phone much or talking to many people. I really don’t even talk to my family. It’s one of those situations where I just have to lock in, stay focused on what’s present now.”
