Van Domselaar wins WSL Save of the Season | News

Daphne van Domselaar has won the Barclays Women’s Super League Save of the Season award for her stunning stop against Brighton & Hove Albion.

She produced an acrobatic save at full stretch, showing quick reflexes to help us to a valuable three points and deny Carla Camacho’s header.

“Daphne was so important for us in the crucial times in the game,” Renée Slegers said afterwards.

“She saves us, and she was good on the ball. So I’m really, really happy for her.”

Daphne had another save nominated for this award – a stunning stop to deny Bethany England in the north London derby.

Anneke Borbe was also nominated thanks to her save against Manchester United. The other nominees were Janina Leitzi (Leicester City), Ayaka Yamashita (Manchester City), and Elena Lete (London City Lionesses).

Both Daphne and Anneke helped us become the best defensive team in the league this season, conceding the fewest goals in the WSL.
